To gain this Certificate you need to pass both a theory course and a practical assessment. The theory covers 1. General knowledge of radiotelephone communications, 2. Detailed working knowledge of radio equipment, 3. Operational procedures and regulations for VHF radiotelephone communications and related equipment including AIS and 4. Distress, urgency and safety. You can learn it in two ways: Online course. The RYA’s online SRC course is a well proven and popular way to learn this part of the SRC- click here to find out more o The RYA offer a ‘taster’ so you can find out a little more about the course. Here’s the link https://youtu.be/a0CEKRLey9Q o To run the course your computer must meet the RYA’s technical requirements. o Data sharing. The RYA needs to share some data relating to this course. Click here to see their statement. Classroom course. We run conventional classroom courses for the SRC and offer either a one day or two half day course. There’s no difference in cost and our students often comment on what a good idea the slightly less intensive approach turns out to be. o Our course fee includes comprehensive course notes, the RYA’s course pack and arranging for the practical exam. o Unfortunately we cannot teach you on a classroom course and also run your practical exam. We can however arrange the practical exam for you.
