SRC practical exam

Devon School of Navigation
The practical exam can only be taken once you’ve satisfactorily completed the theory section and have a pass certificate issued by an RYA Training Centre. The exam itself takes about an hour and a half and involves 1. Sitting and passing a short written exam covering the material you have learnt from the online or classroom theory course 2. A short familiarisation session with our training radios 3. About half an hour of practical work using the radios. Assuming you pass we send the paperwork to the RYA who then issue you with your SRC. We can give you a ‘temporary pass’ certificate on request. See our Terms and conditions and course price pages for more information.
